Position Description:

Professor Matthew Nock and the Nock Lab in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Clinical Psychology. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be involved in several different qualitative studies focused on understanding why people try to kill themselves, why they do (or do not) seek treatment, and clinician perceptions of suicide risk and how it is best treated. These studies include a focus on college students, people seeking hospital-based treatment, and clinicians who work with those at risk for suicide.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct research in clinical psychology.

2. Publish and present research findings in high-quality scientific journals and conferences.

3. Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and students on interdisciplinary research projects.

4. Contribute to the preparation of research proposals.

5. Participate in teaching and mentoring activities for undergraduate and graduate students.

This is a one-year term position with possibility of renewal dependent upon job performance and continued availability of funding.

Basic Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated record of research achievement and experience in the collection and analysis of qualitative data.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience focused on suicide/mental health and on using natural language processing methods preferred.
